Rhinoplasty ( or “Nose Job” ), is the surgery that addresses shape, size, form, proportion and symmetry problems of the nose; it is often associated with Septoplasty ( correction of a deviated Septum ) to address functional defects.
HOW RHINOPLASTY IS DONE
Rhinoplasty, or Nose Job, is done either with Local Anesthesia and Sedation, or under General Anesthesia.
The surgical access could be done by the Open or Closed Technique
CLOSED RHINOPLASTY TECHNIQUE
For the closed rhinoplasty technique, the incisions are all within the nostrils so there won’t be any visible scars. The access and visibility are limited but there will be less swelling and healing time.
OPEN RHINOPLASTY TECHNIQUE
In the open rhinoplasty technique there is an incision, in addition to the closed technique ones, done externally on the columella ( tissue between the nostrils ). There is full access and visibility so the tip of the nose can be reshaped much better. This requires more healing time and swelling. Rhinoplasty isn’t a painful procedure but there are bruises on the mid third of the face for a week. You will be able to notice the profile improvements right away, front view, instead, will be stable in the following 6-12 months.
The patient will have a metal splint on the bridge of the nose for a week and plasters for another seven days
Hospitalization of one day (1 night’s stay at the clinic)
