Facelift ( or rhytidoplasty ) is one of the most complex aesthetic surgery procedure.
FACELIST TYPES
Facelift is classified using:
- the level of the surgical plane ( subperiosteal, superficial musculoaponeurotic system SMAS, subcutaneous )
- the involved area of the face ( whole face, middle third, middle and lower thirds + neck ).
SUBCUTANEOUS AND SUBPERIOSTEAL FACELIFTS
Subcutaneous facelift, being on a more superficial surgical plane, is less invasive but, at the same time, the result is quite temporary. Requires Local Anesthesia + Sedation. Subperiosteal and SMAS facelifts are more invasive, have higher risks of vascular or nerve lesions, but give longer lasting results. Are done under general anesthesia.
About 1 week of bruising, with complete recovery in 20 days (depending on the scope and depth of the surgical plan)
Hospitalization of one day (1 night’s stay at the clinic)
